AUTUMN STUDIO NEWS: A COLLECTION LAUNCH AND A SHOW!

Nostalgia: Laetitia, impasto acrylic on canvas, framed in Tasmanian oak - 93 x 123cm - available online April 1.

Welcome to my Autumn Studio News. I hope your 2022 got off to a great start - mine certainly did, so much has happened since I wrote to you at Christmas, it’s really hard to know where to begin.

Putting my paintings aside for a moment, we were blessed with the arrival of our third grandchild Penelope Olympia on December 29, 2021 (daughter of Claudia and Daniel). She is quite tall, delicately featured with the most incredible head of hair - so much so that she was virtually mobbed at AGNSW’s Matisse exhibition recently, with all the art lovers wanting to pat her upwardly mobile hair! You can also see below that we managed to get all three cousins to sit still for their first group portrait, can’t wait to eventually get them to all look in the one direction.

Triple Perspectives of Innocence: Zander, Clémentine and Penelope - February, 2022.

OK - back to work!

Detail - NOSTALGIA: Bliss, impasto acrylic on canvas framed in Tasmanian oak, 40 x 40cm, available online April 1.

The NOSTALGIA COLLECTION, takes inspiration from the painterly and nostalgic splendour of vintage floral fabrics and billowing mid-century Summer dresses. My aim is to connect these luscious flowers to the viewers’ wistful and affectionate memories of vintage elegance. It’s been a great pleasure to dive into their splendour. NOSTALGIA is made up of 12 works ranging from 30 x 30cm to 93 x 123cm. I have also designed some gorgeous NOSTALGIA homewares and accessories to complete the collection. I do hope you’ll take a visit on March 31, not only will you receive an early access link, but as a special VIP thank you, you will also receive a generous 24 hours discount coupon.

Detail - INDIGO DREAMS: Olympia (SOLD) an example of the work I am creating for ‘VIVIDA’ my debut exhibition at Thienny Lee Gallery, Sydney on May 5.

MAY EXHIBITION: I am so excited to be mounting my debut Sydney solo exhibition ‘VIVIDA’ at Thienny Lee Gallery in Edgecliff on May 5 at 6pm - you are all invited and I really hope you can attend! You’ll receive an invite via my website in April, but if you would also like to receive an invite direct from Thienny Lee Gallery, then please email me here - and I’ll make it happen. Here’s some info from the exhibition page - ‘Julie Lynch captures the delicate beauty of floating petal landscapes in her debut Sydney solo exhibition, Vivida. In this series of works Lynch has layered hand painted and dyed transparent tissue veils to create abstract and evocative imagery of her floral subject matter. The combination of cool and warm colour hues presents a rich and vibrant effect. Lynch echoes the frayed yet spectacular fiery beauty of wild poppies as well as the calmness and serenity inspired by the soothing pigment of indigo. This series reflects Lynch’s profound attention to the colour, shape and textural qualities of nature’s alluring flowers and the sensations they conjure.’ You can find more here I really hope you can come to the opening or if not another time throughout the season - dates are May 5 - May 24.
