Welcome to my Winter Studio News!
Thank you to so many of you that supported me leading up to and during my ‘BLOSSOMS & ORANGES’ exhibition at Gloucester Gallery. I am very pleased to report that it was a great success with many of the paintings selling from large to small, to known collectors and new. Additionally, I made a number of new Gloucester friends. Notably Jenny & Greg from the Craven Creek Music Festival who kindly provided my accommodation at their beautiful farm in Craven Creek where they hold the Craven Creek Music Festival each year. You can see their performance space in the image above - a very rustic milking shed, it’s so rich with character. To use their words ‘for one weekend in September the barn at Kingfisher is transformed. Join these superb musicians as they create a unique not to be missed musical experience’. I can’t make it this year, but I would dearly love to go next year, the atmosphere at Kingfisher is brilliant!
‘THE EVERY DAY’ Exhibition at the Corner Store Gallery, Orange, NSW: 19 - 29 July
My painting ‘Gum Blossoms, Lemons & Sugar Bowl’ was accepted into The Every Day Exhibition at the Corner Store Gallery in Orange. This was a highly competitive round, so I was super pleased to be excepted. I love the Corner Store Gallery and the theme of the exhibition ‘the Every Day’ resonates with my approach to art wonderfully, in that I believe that inspiration is very easily found, you just need to take a moment to see it, touch it, and embrace it! Hug it any form, whether it be through a painting, a photo or simply bundling some blooms in a vase for home. That’s what I think art for ‘every day’ is all about. Behind the Scenes for CANVAS & CLAY with Denise McDonald at the SHAC Gallery, Bowral, 6 Oct - 6 Nov
I’m back in the thick of creating a new collection for CANVAS & CLAY at the SHAC Gallery, Bowral. This time collaborating with the very talented ceramicist Denise McDonald. We’ve got together and selected some favourite pieces from her Flannel Flowers series. In response to the forms, colours and surface of each piece, I have created striking still life works featuring our bold Australian native flora, each one intriguing in form, colour and surface. I particularly love capturing the strong silhouettes that each combination creates. And to foreground each work, I’ve created a layered background of whites that nod to how glazes form when they are dipped and swirled over the bisque clay. I’m loving the purity of each canvas, it has afforded the flowers and ceramics plenty of visual space to shine. Please watch out for your Opening Night invitation in September, I really hope you’ll be able to join me on Saturday 7 October!

Both workshops are designed for beginners to intermediate, you’ll create your own take home artwork, all the materials are supplied, so just bring your paint clothes, your creative energy – and enjoy!!! To book SPRING - click here, and for SUMMER - book here. I hope to see you there!
‘1001 REMARKABLE OBJECTS’: Opening Friday 25 August
In my other life as a designer for performance, I’ve been collaborating with the Powerhouse Museum as one of three designers, designing the ‘1001 Remarkable Objects’ exhibition. This has been a year long project working with Artistic Chair Leo Schofield AM, and my co-designers Pip Runciman and Ross Wallace, with lighting by Damien Cooper; a fabulous bunch of theatre people, taking their talent into the museum space. I have designed 13 of the 30 amazing room experiences.
This is the largest exhibition every mounted by the Powerhouse Museum, and celebrates - you guessed it…1001 of the most remarkable objects from the museum’s collection, including extraordinary objects such as: the only surviving fragment of the Lockheed Altair aircraft Lady Southern Cross flown by pioneer aviator Sir Charles Kingsford Smith for his final flight in 1935; a section of original Transatlantic cable from 1858; a mousetrap making machine designed in Sydney; an Edo period samurai warrior’s suit of armour; a 1.5 metre tall Mintons ceramic peacock from the 1870s and a Detroit Electric car manufactured in 1917.
Season runs from 26 August - 31 December, it promises to be extraordinary! To learn more visit
